Commonwealth Law Conference 2025

As the planet warms, the potential for climate change claims is unlimited. The use of the common law to found such claims is trailing behind for now, but is soon expected to explode as cases in Australia in Pabai and New Zealand in Smith work their way through the Courts. Other common law countries are watching closely. This session will consider the critical features of these claims in terms of duties of care, causation and attribution of harm and the essential knowledge for lawyers in managing these claims in the future.
